Colombia Christmas Tradition

In Colombia we began our Christmas celebrations on December 7, «La noche de las velitas», in commemoration of the religious feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. On this night, families gather, with lanterns and candles to light them outside the houses, the streets are decorated with lights and the lights express color and joy.

From December 16 to 24 is the «Novena de Aguinaldos», nine days gathered around the manger to pray, sing carols and enjoy the joy of these holidays.

Christmas Eve is a great party, accompanied by music and dancing and Night New Year’s Eve, december 31, is said goodbye with smiles and good wishes.

Families share Christmas snacks such as buñuelos, natillas, cookies, «dulce de manjar blanco» and «dulce cortado».

We invite you to remember these dates in The Little Colombia Restaurant.
